Fairies

Guess what?

We have fairies in our garden.

Can you see their little houses?

Spot their little lanterns.

Unfortunately for me,
only very special,
little people
 can hear their little voices.

I wonder what they were talking about?

This moment

{this moment} - A Friday ritual. A single photo - no words - capturing a moment from the week. A simple, special, extraordinary moment. A moment I want to pause, savour and remember. If you're inspired to do the same, leave a link to your 'moment' in the comments for all to find and see.

Gardening time

Not much will get me outside at eight o'clock at night during a Melbourne autumn.

The only thing that has ever done that is my garden.
Planting in peace.
Soil in my hands.

- I have never liked to use gardening gloves -

The beautiful earthy aroma.
The promise of a beautiful life for the little fellow going into the earth.
The creation of a sanctuary all for myself in my backyard.

The first time I have experienced this in two years.

I planted a Clivia.
A South African plant to remind me of home.

It blooms in Spring.

It has always been my sign of Spring.

I guess we are finally settling down.

I have the energy and head space to create some beauty in my environment.
I may even have the energy to nurture the rented space we have here.

I am dreaming of a wrought iron table and chairs.
To put outside.
In our little space.

Our little space that we call home.

Montessori playgroup

How I love Montessori education.

Cosmic education.
Child centered education.

An education that starts with a deep respect for the child.

An education that fosters a love of the natural world.
World peace education.

A home for our children.
A home for our family.
A community.

I am so grateful that we have the opportunity.
To give our children.

This opportunity.

Scones

Home made scones.
Made with the left over buttermilk.

Home made butter.

Jam, not home made, but at least it's organic :).

Yum.

Making butter

Putting the cream into the jar.

Shaking it up.

Still shaking.

Pouring out the buttermilk.

Squeezing the buttermilk out of the butter.

Home made butter.
Who knew that it would be so easy?

Mothers day

My mother left her country of birth and travelled to a foreign country to make a better life for me.
She learnt a new language and a new way of life.

She loved her children fiercely.
She would do anything for our  success in life.
She was my biggest fan.
She was a warm ear to share all my teenage stories with.

She always missed her own mother in Poland.
And longed for the life she left behind.

She loved nature.
And animals.

She made beautiful food.
And the best Christmases I have ever had.

She taught me how to love my children.

As I stumble through this whole motherhood thing,
I long for her words of advice and encouragement.
But all I have is her memory.
And a hope that I can be half the mother that she was to me.

Happy Mothers Day, Mamusz.

I have you forever in my heart.

One

Happy birthday my little one!

You have brought us so much joy.
Your peaceful spirit is a light in our lives.
We are so honoured to have you in our lives.

And we will always love you.

Mud and puddles

Melbourne's rainy season has started.
Rain, rain every day.

A little boys' dream.

Crawling through the mud.
Splashing through the puddles.

A real Montessori kid, I was told!

No concern about being wet.
Being cold.
Having to do all that washing.

Just bliss.

In the discovery of mud.
And water.
All over.

Aaah, the joy of childhood.

Presents

A sneak peak at preparations for Xavier's birthday on Saturday.

Annie has insisted that his presents be wrapped in PINK wrapping paper!
My pink princess in action.

I was not allowed to help.
She is so grown up.
And such a wonderful big sister.
