Gone

And just like that, my dad and brother left this morning.

They slotted into our lives like they had always lived here.
Part of the family.
As they always have been.

Revamped my garden.
Bonded with the children.
Made Christmas possible.
Made Annie's birthday possible.
Cleaned up after themselves.
Made copious amounts of tea.
Made delicious meals.

My dad discovered yoga.
My brother played the guitar.

We had a little bit of heaven and magic for a few weeks.

It is now just the four of us again.

Annie says she wishes it was still just the six of us.

We cried a lot this morning.
We all feel so very sad.

So very sad that our family lives so far away.

And so very lucky that we can feel this sad.

Because it means that we have some really amazing people in our lives.

I hope that we see them again soon.
And I pray, that one day, they will come and live in Australia with us.

Say a little prayer for us, if you wish.

Blessings to you.

Party time

Annie had her birthday party today.
A great success.
Paper flowers hanging from the ceiling.

Home made birthday cake.
Home made cup cakes.

Lots of little princesses running around.

Musical crowns instead of musical chairs.

A lot of hard work that we would have never been able to pull off if it was just me and Sohail.

My dad and brother were amazing.
They worked all day to get the house ready and cleaned up while we tried to put the children to bed.

Annie and Xavier were both on such a high.

Xavier fell asleep whilst singing "Happy birthday to Annie".
Gorgeous.

Annie went to sleep in a cocoon of happiness.

Her special day was indeed special for her.

I love you my little princess.
Your inner beauty shines through and inspires us all to be more kind, loving and joyful.

I hope that five is a magical year for you.

Five

My Annie turns five.
Jenny made me this gorgeous doll for her.

We are about to host her a princess party at home.
I will upload the photos once our celebrations are done.

Happy birthday my sweet angel.
You are a true blessing in our lives.

Christmas 2010

Our Polish Christmas is done.
It was a huge success.
It was overwhelming to have us all together, celebrating this time together.
My mom would have loved to be here with us.
I think she is proud.

I would wish you a Merry Christmas, but Monica says it much better than me:

I hope for you all who celebrate christmas, a day filled with no stress, laughter, compassion, forgiveness, good food, new memories, and love. And for everyone else, I hope these holidays see you safe and finding relaxation and tons of fun.

Queenscliff

We had a quick holiday by the sea.
An hour and a half of driving.
And we arrived in a little bit of paradise.

After half a day we said that we had already relaxed so much that we would have been happy to go home.

We stayed in the coolest art deco home.
A place that I would have been happy to call my own home.

A new book to enjoy.

Scrabble.
French brie.
Crackers.
Fun.

For the younger ones, some playing in the sand.

And for the others.
The sound of the sea lapping at our feet.
And the best aromatherapy anyone could ask for.
The smell of the ocean.

Bliss.

Advent 2010 day 21

Today is my dad's birthday.
We went on the Puffing Billy to celebrate.

What a great day out.
Everyone had a wonderful time.

We stopped and had a picnic and birthday cake.
It turns out that I am not the greatest of cake bakers.
I put cumin instead of cinnamon into the carrot cake.
Can you imagine what that tasted like?

Hee hee!

I am still deciding whether I should risk baking a cake for Annie's birthday or just have one made for her.

I so want to give her a home made cake, but I don't want it to be a flop for her special day.

All tips and advice are welcome here.

  Our family has a tradition.

Jumping photos.

We did a series just before we left South Africa and now, whenever we see each other again, we run around like crazy people and jump.

It's great fun.

Here are some jumping photos for you to enjoy.

And then we decided to act a bit civilised again.

Blessings to you.

Advent 2010 day 20

My dad has arrived.

Happy days.

We spent last night discussing the menu for our traditional Polish Christmas.
It was very joyful.
All of us together again.

At one point I told Sohail that it even feels like my mom is here with us.

He said that she is.

I felt her next to me.
She said, "Yes, I am."

True story.

It still gives me goosebumps.

My dad and my brother have revamped my garden.
It took them one hour.
I woke up from my nap and didn't recognise it.

My dad is the strongest man I know.
My brother is the biggest man I know.

Together, they make a great team in the garden.

I went out with my dad today.

Annie and my brother spent the time making garlands for the birds to eat.
Fruit.
Popcorn.
Walnut shells filled with peanut butter and bird seed.

My brother and his amazing photography skills.

Doesn't it look so pretty?
I hope the birds like it.
We have hidden it in a tree so that our cat doesn't get the birds.

Mary is walking along very happily.
She has acquired a donkey today.
Isn't it gorgeous?

Blessings to you.

Advent 2010 day 17

Yesterday we went on the Road to Bethlehem.

I think this will be a new family tradition.
We walked the path that Mary and Joseph took on the first Christmas.

A moving theatre of sorts.
Highly interactive.
Lots of fun for the children.

And tears in my eyes when we finally saw baby Jesus in the last scene.

The children got to write messages after the walk.
Annie drew one of her and the angel.

And then she drew another one.

And asked me how many more she could do.

And this morning, she asked me if we could go back.

A beautiful experience for the whole family.
A real way of experiencing Christmas.

Without any shopping centre in sight!

And tonight.
My dad arrives...

Advent 2010 day 15

Happiness
My brother has arrived.
Not much time for blogging.
I have hardly been on the computer.
Birthday celebration
It has all been quite action packed.
Annie brought her uncle for show and tell.
She then walked around the sun five times to celebrate her birthday at the end of the month.
Christmas carols
Christmas carols at Annie's school.
A lovely evening.
Children running around.
Carols being sung.

And the next day.
The last day of school.

My last Dru yoga class for the year.
I will miss those.
Luckily it's just for a few weeks.

Wow
 We got our Christmas tree.
The house smells beautiful.
Xavier is loving the lights.

Xavier's plane

The hand made heart Annie and I made

Xavier's Christmas ornament from last year. His first Christmas.

Swimming lessons
Second last week of swimming lessons for the year.
I am so proud of how far my Annie has come.

Our home is a bit more chaotic than usual.

There is a lot of laughter.

Sleeping.
Eating.
Playing.
Planning.
Preparing.

A very joyful time for us.

Blessings to you.
