Advent 2011

That time of year is upon us.

My favourite season.

I have been a bit down about it.
Not so interested.
Because last year was so special.
My dad and brother were here from South Africa.

This year, it's just the four of us.

I have started unpacking some supplies.
And looking through my blog from last year.

I have had a few tears.
And am once again really excited for my favourite time of year!

Advent starts this Sunday.
We are once again doing Mary's walk as our home made advent calendar.

Have a read about it here. It was truly magical for all of us last year. And so easy to do.

I have been once again reading up on St Nicholas day. Since I have forgotten about it since last year! Have a read about it here. This was also a very magical tradition we started last year.

Here is a list of what I am preparing for:

Advent
Annie's joint birthday party with a friend from school
St Nicholas day
Annie's Montessori birthday celebration at school
A summer solstice celebration I am planning with one of the mum's from school
Christmas
Annie's actual birthday

Why did my daughter have to be born in December, I ask?

I am planning for Santa to be finished with his Christmas shopping by the end of November.

Have you started thinking about Christmas yet?
Do you celebrate it?
Do you love it?
Hate it?

I would love to hear your thoughts.

Blessings to you.

  1. Such thought and love goes into celebrating traditions in your home, it's sounds so magical I can imagine your two are captivated:) I have been thinking about Christmas a lot with some lists and a small start on some sewing but still lots to do. Goodluck with all of your preparations. xo

  3. i love it and these last few years it is changing into something more simple. the decorations are lighter. all the shopping is done by october. i keep the boys away from the shops though out december (avoiding santa mainly). i like them to see one santa a year. when we go to the christmas tree farm, the santa there is very genuine and the same one each year. i love christmas. it's magical. x
